About

Independent, compatible, open

Exbound reconstructs proprietary, abandoned, and monopolized scientific and engineering software as independent applications that are compatible with the originals.

Principles

  • Compatibility, not cloning. We reimplement what the software does and describe it by compatibility — never copying vendor code, artwork, or trademarks, and never naming an implementation after a product.
  • Evidence over assertion. Claims carry the command or source that produced them; compatibility is claimed only when verified against documented reference behavior.
  • Lawful and clean-room. Work proceeds only on lawfully held copies, with a documented clean-room method where a proprietary original is involved.
  • Reproducibility as the core standard. Public setup, tests that don't require proprietary software, and issues that state what correctness means.

Scope

Exbound is for interoperability and preservation. It does not defeat DRM, dongles, or activation on currently sold software, and does not distribute circumvention tools. See thesecurity & scope policyand thelegal basis.

Governance

Founder-led and deliberately lightweight. Write access is earned through a track record of evidence-backed contributions. Seegovernance.

Exbound is not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by any software vendor. Product names are used only to describe compatibility.
